Synopsis
A short video documenting, in loving slow motion, a gaudy pile of recently dumped food on the pavement. The ripe mess is elevated into a landscape of bounteous putrescence, where sweet and savoury foods ooze into one another and become indiscernible from one another.
Artist Statement
I make films exploring the tension between the humdrum and the ecstatic in everyday landscapes. My work seeks the transcendent in mundane objects and overlooked places, often in the urban landscape of London. Each work has its own language, but they all evoke the contradictory experience of place.

Artist Bio
Sarah Ballard is a filmmaker and moving image artist based in Brooklyn. Concerned with elapsed time and our perceptions of it, she manipulates the tactile qualities of sound and image to summon aesthetics of collective dream and recollection. She makes films, single channel videos and multi-channel works that seek to reinterpret what is left behind and materialize what is unremembered.

There Is Love For You//You Will Find Them Again
Synopsis
Direct animation on 16mm and GIFs that have been glitched and drawn on by hand come together to observe how gender is portrayed in various forms of media. Particularly related to the trans experience, the piece observes and dissects various representations of femininity, masculinity, gender nonconformity, and transness. Images of various children’s cartoons and video game characters are set against modern representations of trans people actually played by trans actors in roles that are well rounded and nonexploitative.

Dakota Bozeman is an Orlando-based experimental filmmaker in his senior year of the Film BFA at University of Central Florida. Much of Bozeman’s work focuses on how his transgender identity affects various aspects of his life, as well as his relationship to the LGBTQ community as a whole. Through his work, Bozeman hopes to create honest but optimistic depictions of LGBTQ individuals

In this lonely contemplation of a past summer, the ancient promontory becomes a parenthetical projection of frantic lines and alternating impressions.
Artist Bio
Vasilios Papaioannu is a filmmaker, photographer and mixed media artist currently based in Washington, DC. In his work Papaioannu explores the fleeting dreamscapes of reality using noise, movement and disturbance. He hybridizes different modes of filmmaking, unifying variegated media, primarily 16mm film, digital video and archival footage. His works have been shown in various venues around the world, such as Crossroads at SFMOMA, Anthology Film Archives, Engauge Film Festival, EXiS, Cork Film Festival, FILMADRID, IBAFF, Montreal Underground Film Festival, Revelation Perth Film Festival, Athens Digital Arts Festival, CICA Museum and Sharjah Film Platform. Papaioannu holds an MA in Communication, Text Semiotics and Cinema from the University of Siena in Italy and an MFA in Film and Cinematography from Syracuse University in New York. Papaioannu is currently an Assistant Professor at the Cathy Hughes School of Communications, Department of Media, Journalism, and Film at Howard University.

I Put the Wind in the Window-gazing (Fairy Fountain Mix)
Synopsis
Turning my friend’s musical score into life, I used video effects like data-moshing to make the colors of each scene bleed into one another creating a very interesting transition between each video clip. The clips are arranged in an experimental way which is meant to align with the flow of the musical composition.
Artist Bio
Ian Grant is a glitch artist working in video and photography, based in Dallas, Texas. He arrived at glitch art after studying painting and photography, and from being active on the internet. To him glitch art is like painting with broken systems. He uses intentionally sabotaged hardware to manipulate and create
audiovisuals. The pieces hopefully allow the viewer to have a connection with the process and the materiality of the medium. His interest is in attempting to control the inherent chaos of glitch and to create novel sensory experiences. Hopefully the viewer finds something interesting and new about this process. It’s what I like to do and hopefully anyone can relate to wanting to share something they’ve created on which feels like a new medium using new technologies and/or new interpretations of old technologies and mediums.

With the Back in the Island series I strive to revive the unnoticed feelings behind everyday circumstances, using color, shapes and texture to rephrase this lost sensations thundering in the shadows. Wings beating as the frames flicker, a digitally rendered attempt at reanimation. A Cloudless Sulfur (Phoebis Sennae) is inundated by delusions of grandeur. Delusions of Cloudless Sulfur was created by applying butterfly wing pigments and ink to 16mm film, which was then telecined and digitally manipulated.

‘Tremble & Dance’ refers to the idea that if we attentively observe very small particles, such as a speck of dust or a grain of pollen, suspended in still air or in a liquid, we see them tremble and dance. When I first heard this I immediately thought of my body and its mass and movement and the interflow with inner and outer experiences. The body can almost seem to tremble and dance to all that is… Perhaps this is what is known as the varying subtle bodies making wonderful alternate realities possible in real time?
